COMMUNITY IMPACT

Led by The Arc of Justice, a social, economic and environmental justice advocacy organization with a chapter in Rochester – State legislators, social justice advocates, faith leaders, union workers and business people rallied in opposition to building a casino in the Rochester area.

“We have commitments from our brothers and sisters in the state Assembly, as well as our leadership, to push back against the casino here in Rochester, so the voices of the Rochester community continue being heard.” - New York Assemblyman Demond Meeks

“We cannot have a process where secret dealings can happen in closed rooms, behind closed doors, where there’s no accountability, where there’s no transparency, where there’s no inclusivity.” - Rev. Justin Morris, president of the Rochester Arc of Justice and founder and CEO of Untrapped Ministries

"I think the process in which this is being done is simply wrong. This is a backroom deal that was not given any input by the local communities and the people that live in this community.- Steven Martin, Senior Director of Marketing at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack

“It should be noted that neither City leadership nor members of our New York State delegation has been involved in any conversations related to this possibility. Any conversation of this magnitude that does not include local stakeholders is unacceptable.” - City of Rochester Mayor Malik Evans
